Professor Zhao Wang is a tenured professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology, and Executive Dean of Huangpu Research Institute of Green Advanced Materials. He is the winner of the 4th Qingshan Science and Technology Award. He received his B.S. from Qilu University of Technology, M.S. from Beijing University of Technology and Ph.D. from Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and joined SCUT in 2023. His research centers on molecular design of bio-based degradable polyester rubbers, green rubber additives and industrial recycling of elastomers. He independently developed fully bio-based degradable rubber, broke through core polymerization and engineering technologies, built the world’s first kiloton-scale pilot line, and developed degradable tires and footwear materials. He has presided over NSFC and provincial key R&D projects, owned over 100 authorized patents, and industrialized multiple technologies. Committed to industry-university-research integration, he promotes low-carbon sustainable development of rubber industry and participates in global polymer & rubber academic exchanges regularly.
